A tough one to take, I think early on Stapenhill had plenty of the ball in our half and we defended well and weathered a bit of a storm and was pinned back, not being able to bring our attacking players into the game as much as we would have liked, saying that at times we got in some great areas later on in the half as we settled the game down and began to build on it.
Second half we seemed to find another gear and we seemed to do what Stapenhill had done to us first half and we saw plenty of the ball and got it in great positions to go ahead.
As the game looked liked it had 0-0 written all over it we got punished from a long throw and a free header from 2 yards out, louis making the save but the Stapenhill player was first to react from the rebound to eventually score the only goal of the game.
The lads today pushed to the very end trying to get something out the game what i think we deserved.
We can’t and we won’t use injuries and suspensions as an excuse and say with them it would have been 3 points because this happens in football a lot and squads get stretched, we can’t just wait around for them to be back as injuries and suspensions don’t just disappear overnight unfortunately.
The work now starts for Tuesdays game vs Cradley Town and make sure we are ready for that one.
