Firstly, I’d like to personally congratulate Stu and Cradley Town on securing a play off position last night and wish them all the best for the rest of the season.
Last night we knew we were massive underdogs as everyone was not just expecting a Cradley win but expected a thrashing so it was clear we needed to set up right, stick to the game plan and to a man work hard without the ball.
Going 1-0 down early on from an own goal just sums up our luck at the minute but it was key that we didn’t lose sight of the plan and let the game get out of reach.
You get out of football what you put in and we got rewarded with the equaliser through a great finish from Ryan Piggot to score his first for Gornal after a great defensive header from Will Rawlings was picked up by Brad Welding who was calm on the ball to slip the ball through to Piggo.
From all the praise we got saying we should of come away with something from our dominant performance second half and I’m starting to sound like a broke record because if we don’t take the chances we always run the risk and Cradley sealed the 3 points late on.
Can’t fault the lads performance and praised them after the game but told them the frustrations are with the 6 points that we should of had the last two games because if we had applied that work rate and attitude it could of and would of been positive results behind us.
We now turn our attention to the away game Saturday against Allexton and we must build on last nights performance.
Thanks to all the supporters last night as it made it a real derby day feel under the lights and we will keep working hard to try and change the results in our final 3 games of the season.
Jamie
