“Hi all
“So last week and this week has shown to be a difficult 2 weeks of football with 2 losses.
“Firstly last week playing table toppers Leamington, we started great as we knew they would be a really tough test for us. Going in 2-1 up at half time with a brace from our striker Nicole Jakeways, we knew the second half would be a battle as they were bound to come out at us, we said the next goal was vital.
“Unfortunately the next goal was for Leamington, and then they seemed to capitalise on us and take control of the game by scoring 4 goals in the half to turn the game around and give them a 5-2 win. The player of the match was Megan Priest who had a great game against such tough opponents but kept on battling.
“Then the game this Sunday took us on our travels to Coventrians who were in a similar place to us in the league we knew again it would be a good game and again we give our all. We were missing a couple of players with only giving us one sub which is not ideal at this level. But as we do we give our all.
“The home team took the lead but we soon got back level from a free kick took by Kelly Shirley saved by the keeper and Shaquanna Watson was first to respond to the rebound, unfortunately the home team gained the advantage and scored a good goal to take us into the half time 2-1 down.
“Second half I changed formation to go at them and we took control of the game for a lot of the second half but just could not finish the couple of chances we had, credit to Coventrians they defended for their lives and did it well.
“I can honestly say these Gornal Ladies gave their all to get the equaliser but just did not fall for us, which ended the game 2-1 to the home team. Player of the match went to our captain Olivia Riese.
“Also last week we had 2 players leave the club. Samantha Whittaker and Vicky Cooper. I just wanted to say that I personally wish these two ladies all the best in what they do and go onto next.
“When the team started last season these two players came in at the start and not just played but also supported me massively. They were a great pair of characters too. I can't thank them both enough for what they did for me and the club in the set up and helping me get to grips with ladies football. So from myself thank you both.
“Thank you also to our supporters that come and watch, we really do want to get more people there to support these ladies in our second season.
“Thank you”
Stuart
